I am in the process of cleaning and painting my K&T 2K, and have all the handwheels and most of the handles and knobs off, but am finding it difficult to remove the longitudinal handwheel. I have taken off the outer clutch components, the snap ring and the two dowels that the snap ring retains, but something is still holding it in place. If someone could tell me how to remove it, I would appreciate it.

Thanks to member CoolHand, I have the handwheel off now. It turns out that there are 3 dowels that have to be removed. There are two of one size, and another a good bit smaller. Given that they are hard to remove, I plan on making new ones that are drilled and tapped for a number 6 or number 8 machine screw so that they can be pulled out much easier.
