Default Anyone know what happened to PBMW?

I haven't seen a posting is a long time and just tried to call their number, but got the 3 tones of discontentment.

I'd sure like to know what's up since he used to be a regular and just moved into a new building last year.

His last visit to a different forum was 11-13-2009, last post there 03-23-2009 so he is still out there.

Perry, I was gonna post this exact thing last week! I was also curious to see how his new digs were but like HDPG, I checked his postings and realized he's still out there but probably just laying low.

Guys.

Last I heard he was in a world of hurt with the economy. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, I don’t think the new shop worked out. Last I heard he had to abandon the new place. Layed off the staff etc.

You can read that here in posts #10 & #12. He had to remove a conveyor from his lathe, because he didn’t have room for it, back in the garage at home.

I hope things are improving for him. I had a lot of time for Jim. He is a good guy.

Regards Phil

I've wondered about him a few times too in the past year too, and hoped he was simply too busy to post.

Can't really beat working from home though.

That's really bad news about his shop, but I sure am glad he's okay.

I know I'm taking a real beating this year, but with my new-found paranoia, I thought it was just me.

I remember that thread very well and figgered that was the one you linked to. I was so surprised to see him back home so quickly! I would have NEVER guessed it was THAT bloody long ago tho! When they said above that he hadn't posted here since March, (April 1 actually) I thought "Am I thinking of the same guy?" But I guess - yeah - I was. Just a lot more water over the dam since then than I thought.

Every time a Phase Perfect comes up I think of him because he had 2 of them at the house. Too bad about the biz, it seemed barely yesterday he was posting new pics of the moving in. I remember he had to pull a machine out of storage because he had no room at the house for it.

Well, it's certainly a different circumstance than Mitty's disappearance.

Sure puts back in perspective my idea of getting a few more machines. Its been kinda put on hold until things settle, recession took a bit longer to hit up here, but its not looking great now. Oddly enough I think if I buy a machine now, it'll be a larger manual lathe. At least I know where the market is for that type of work.

Whew......bad news.
Wondered where he went.
Seemed like the new machines couldn't get delivered & set up fast enough at one point.

Me, I just play with junk.....

I’ve turned up the phone number for the house if some one was interested in giving Jim a call. I’d do it and still might, but with time differences and my accent?

I private messaged Perry several days ago. Despite his concern, and the starter of this thread, he hasn’t had the decency to get back to me.

From what I understand the business has been retired.

If any one wanted, P.M or mail me. No rush, I’m away for the weekend, back Monday, that’s Sunday night for you guys.

Regards Phil.

Aw Phil, don't be hurt. I've been a busy boy. Your PM and the post up top are very similar in info. I would be interested in reaching out to him, but I prefer to use the phone for such occasions. Besides, I don't "twitter", I absolutely refuse to participate in these newfangled "social" sinks. I worked in the internet biz for many years and see these new services as idiotic.

I have seen him post on other, motorcycle-oriented forums.

Thanks for the phone call Perry.
Moved into a new shop. 4 months later the bottom dropped out. Customers cut way back and some went out of business. One customer I was doing well over $200k a year with, poof...gone. That hurt.
Moved back to the old shop. Let everyone go. Trying to keep my head above water. Prolly fighting bouts of depression...
Not much work out there. I let my Haas SL10 go. starting to do some more motorsports things. working on our own products so things may be looking up. I got a couple of irons in the works...
Thanks for the good thoughts. It's appreciated.
This ecconomy crap sure ain't for wimps...

It's good to hear from you. Glad you're OK and sorry about the circumstances.
You were just a little farther along than me.. I had planned on opening a small stocking showroom here but the wife asked me to hold off.. said some rough times might be coming. (This was in July '08)

I won't say she is always right but she's got a pretty good track record. Glad I didn't bull ahead and incur all that overhead. I'm blessed with the good customer base that I have, most of it you guys and 4-5 locals. I should feel fortunate.. several of our friends have been laid off.

So this year has been reduced to trying to keep what we have, strengthening the bond with family, and hoping for growth next year.

I wish you well Jim.
