IF the machine has the ability to use low torque and hold, then you could use a reg live center with dead spindle. Or a dead center in a Synch'ed spindle.
However - what I use is a spring loaded live centers from Concentric.

Since you mentioned a B axis, do you have a lower turret? We have one job where I put a small live center in the lower turret and poke it in the part and do some long turns with the upper turret.

I have used them in both the sub and the lower turrets - of different machines.
