best carbide insert for ni-hard(casting) turning .

i am trying to turn NI-HARD casting MATERIAL(500*480*20 mm) with carbide insert( TNGA160408S01525).when turning completed , i found chip off on outer diameter corner & inner diameter corner & also dull finish. I required Ra=0.3 to 0.2micron.

And if you possibly can keep away from triangular inserts - for tough hard jobs they just don't have the corner strength.

Cast nihard is beyond the realms of carbide in reality.

If you need consistent results then rough with ceramic and finish with CBN.

That nomenclature looks a lot more like a CBN insert. If you're really using a TNGA made from carbide, then no wonder you're having bad luck...

Pretty sure it's a ceramic insert.

Ceramic will cut cast nihard but it's not reliable, which is why I said for roughing only.

harder materials require a lower depth of cut usually or corner breaks off tool
