Choices for NEW CNC vertical turret lathes

What are the names in the game out there right now for new CNC VTLs?

size approximately 30"x30". Price non issue.

Okuma would probably be worth a look though, at least its a known name around north america.

Amera-Seiki would seem an obvious choice.

As much as I hate to say it, but You-Ji from Absolute Machine Toys seems to be a popular brand in VTLs.

Does Index make std VTL's? Or just upside down ones?

30" may be a bit big for the automotive targeted machines, and kind'a small for the big guys...
I'm trying to think of some of the automotive names....

My old Hardinge Salesman (Hans Strouse (spelling)) took a job selling big VTL's for an outfit in Ontario that was importing Russian iron and puting all the CNC on themselves. I seen him at their booth at IMTS maybe 16 yrs ago? Those looked to be very heavy built machines (Rusky eh?) but I can't think of their name anymore. (Quite possibly Olympia?)

Tom from upstate NY may be able to fill in my gaps if he checks this thread.

Motch was a big name in VTL's. Are they still in business?

Giddings and Lewis should still be making them.

We have a Toshiba TUE-200, its a pretty good machine. Pretty weak for live tooling and polar milling but it gets the job done.. I think they make a 1 meter machine so that would be about in your size range..
