Hey guys.

We are getting a new CAT 40 CNC mill.

We already have a bunch of ER40 and TG100 collets.

Which is the better?
We are going to buy a bunch more but we also want to use what we already have as well.

Both type seem to work well, but when we order our new collet holders, should we buy more TG100 or ER40 collet holders?
We have about 30-40 of each. But our holders are old, so we want to get new ones.

PS: most of our work is LOW RPM (100-1000) but in harder materials, so rigidity is important.

thanks :)

If rigidity is important, I would try to go to SK collets or even set screw end mill holders for the really rough cuts.

After that choose the TG100 (TG = Tremendous Grip)i think. They have a shallower taper on the collet and will tend to grab tighter.

Use your ER collets for drills and under 3/8 tools.
