Ive noticed on the VMC I use that it has milling patterns, pocketing patterns, and square milling paterns. I've have read about them in the manual, going to give the milling pattern a shot.
I dont think the pocket and the square milling patterns would be very useful. For the pocket milling pattern, you would have to drill a hole first if you weren't using a slot drill. The square milling pattern (for external) appears to start to close to the square and would have to plunge down into the material at each Z movement.
Also the newer tosnuc's have circle milling patterns.
