Hi I want to tap some parts on my puma 10-HC with a fanuc O-T control

303 stainless 4-40 tap

can anyone give me examples of the canned cycle used? I believe its a G84 but Im not sure on how its setup

if not I can always do it the long hand way

thanks in advance

Nick

I don't know if that's a lathe or a mill, but the G84 cycle is pretty simple. Assume 32 threads per inch.

M3S1000
G84 Xx.x Yx.x Z-.35 F32.0
G80

It would be similar for a lathe, though you'd eliminate the X-Y positions and use F0.032 (feed in inches per revolution.)

You'd need a compression-tension holder unless the machine has rigid tapping option. If it has that, you might add M29 into a line before the G84.

If it is a mill and you want more holes, you just give a line with the X-Y positions for each hole. The G84 is modal and repeat the Z and the cycle for every position until it sees the G80 cancel code.
