New to Fanuc and can't seem to find the answer in the manual..

I'm used to having a library of tools with individual T numbers corresponding to certain tools. (T1 center drill, T2 facing tool etc.) The Robodrill seems to treat T numbers as toolchanger positions. Is there something I'm missing or do I really have to post programs depending on the current tooling setup?

This is a bummer when there are 21 places in the holder and 50 individual tools.

Thanks/Harri

This is dependent on the machine tool builder. I'm not sure how it is handled on a Robodrill, but many builders using Fanuc controls have tool number to magazine position correspondence tables that will accept 4 digit tool numbers.

Barbter,

Sure I can, but doesn't that render the idea of a pre-set tool library as good as useless? Both of my other machines have a feature for telling the machine which tool (or T number) is in which pot on the magazine. This way I can also the same libray at the CAM end without having to figure out the actual location of each tool.

The Fanuc way looks like a recipe for disaster, but maybe I'm just spoiled ;)

Thanks/Harri
