Default Help, BP CNC converted to manual, ball screw movement

I have a BP CNC converted to a manual machine. Serial No. T-775. While installing table feeds, I inadvertently ran the table (Y feed) all the way back to the stop, and now the ball screw moves in and out about a .1 inch (a quater turn) without moving the table. This is screwing up the feed mechanism gear. Because I can't find any parts brakedown on this machine, I don't know what is suppose to limit the in and out movement of the lead screw.

What can I do to find my problem. Help!

    Default Y axis slop

    Hi Ted,

I had a similar problem on mine and I found that the lead screw bearing was walking back and forth on the lead screw. The culprit was a stripped bearing retaining nut on the lead screw.
It is a stock part but I made one out of a nice piece of brass because I had the time.
I picked up a new one and will put it in as time allows.
This is on a BTC-1 which should be similar to all series one CNC machines.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only person who changed an old non-functioning CNC back to a manual!

(Anybody else here ever had an Autonumerics control?)

    Default Ball Screw Repair

Is there play between the screw and the nut? If so, did you run the nut off the end of the thread on the screw? Are there balls out of the nut now?
