Hi guys,

(ugh, title misspelling, "induce" not "indujce")

Got a new 1-1/4" thru-coolant boring bar. It has three flats. If I simply bring coolant to the back of the boring bar holder ID via the ports in my boring bar holder (Mori Seiki SL-2B), most of the coolant will run through the flats instead of going through the bar to the tip.

How do you handle this? I thought maybe just seal off the flats with silicone, but I also adjust the extension of the boring bar now and then, and would have to re-caulk every time. I have also plumbed a vinyl hose from one of the turret ports around to the back of the bar before, but this is a hassle to set up each time.

Thanks, and regards.

hy :) all my id ik tools have flats, and there is enough coolant pressure, so to spread inside the tool and also on the flats

... so far so good :)

I have turned an "O" ring groove on the end of the bar with some success

just like he said :)

if you are not in the position to go searching for oring, than turn a smooth cilindrical surface for cca10mm long

that cilindrical surface should go inside a hole with reduced play :)

for dimensions and stuff i should now the dimensions for your holders, etc, but i hope you got the idea ... kindly !
