Im starting to get the hang of my machine now, and thats making me more familiar with things. Then I read up as much as I can here, and that sparks new things to investigate.

My big worry right now... shy of getting my actual stuff done on it... like cutting parts.... is a mixture of issues that could cause huge problems.
Pictures are here for referenc: http://www.webfootcustomcalls.com/okuma.htm

#1 I have the Tape Emulator - which means the tape reader no longer operates.

#2 I dont know that I have all the programing paper tapes (for some reason there are 3 tapes all labled Program #1) and there is a couple small chunks that I dont remember the numbers on - I need to check that again)

#3 I have a card, memory card I think (far left card with big yellow batteries on it connected to another card) http://www.webfootcustomcalls.com/temp/okumapics/DSCN2719.JPG

#4 I dont know how the machine stores the operating program data, on a ROM chip somewhere? In the meory card?

#5 What does the batteries supply power for, and if they die what do I loose?

#6 How old are the batteries? what happens if I unhook and remove that card for better inspection?

#7 How can I? Or Can I? how much will it cost? to get the tape reader back up should I have to reinstall the OS? Does that plug that hooks to the DTE just unplug and go to the Tape and all is well? load the tape and hit "Load Control Tape"

See... this all leads up to a huge potential disaster and expensive challenges.

Anyone have any experience that could shed some light for me? yeah I know... I jumped into a way too big a pool and dont know how to swim :D

Id much rather be prepared for a disaster than to try and unexpectedly try and recoup from one at an inopportune moment.
