Have done manual lathes only so far but have some production projects that need CNC and will fit on this machine. If I get more serious about it I'll hire an expert to run it and check out fully, I think it can be had for around $12K but owner made noises about a S/W update he has, uninstalled, but wants a separate price for. I'm not sure of hours on machine, no visible meter when "off" so I guess it shows up when power's on. Owner says hours still in 3-figs but that sure doesn't match a 16-y.o. Machine that definitely looks used. I took lots of pix but I doubt they're needed here since I'd have an expert inspect it pre-purchase. We'll only need the machine for a few years until I retire from chip-making, so is leasing a new machine a better idea?

My big question is how long good tech support and parts will be available for this, given how fast everything is changing. My alternative is simply to subcontract to a CNC shop to get the work done, certainly a far less risky path for me.

Advice?
