I know there are some industries that use magnetic work holding on CNC machines and I'm just wondering what precautions need to be taken.

Do you have to be very careful to not let the magnet be near the controls?

How about touch setters?

Does chip control get infinity more difficult?

I had one bad experience where we were doing a job on a super high tech rare earth magnet something or other and it screwed up the control box on our 2 axis lathe.

I have a few jobs where the guys run it in a mag chuck, usually awkward little steel parts that should have been waterjet. It works fine, light cuts are needed unless you account for extra stock and can block the pieces in with parallels or something but even still you're not going to break any speed records. Chip control is difficult to non-existent and at the very least won't make it past the chuck. If they make it off the part at all.
