Default Mitsubishi Meldas 64L Control Issues

I just picked up a small CNC lathe with a Mitsubishi Meldas 64L control. I'm having some basic functionality issues, likely because I am not operating it correctly. I'm used to Fanuc and Fagor. Anyone else out there running this control?

If so, I'm having an issue changing tools so that I can zero them. The control boots up with T0. If I change the tool by selecting "T" and a number it only sticks in MDI mode. When I switch to jog mode to touch off my work it resets to T0. The table position does not reflect any tool offsets.

Along the bottom on the monitor screen the first active status indicator says "LSK" which the manual indicates the machine is reading the tape drive. It doesn't have one...

I have the manuals and I just spent 8 hours doing trial and error with the manual and the control. I must be doing something very simple, very wrong. Seller cannot help me. The machine is a Mighty Viper VT-8 gang tool CNC lathe.

Thanks for any help you can send my way,

    Evan

Did you run through some kind of homing routine on startup? I've never run a gang tool lathe, so I'm not certain how the control is meant to deal with having no tool turret.

All of our gang tooled lathes are set up with 1 tool and multiple offsets to account for the different tools. In our case it's T1, yours may be T0.... But you could try calling T001 and setting your tool 1 to see if that's how it might be configured.
