Default Need help finding CAT30 shell mill holder

I;ve got a friend with a Robodrill and he wants to use a 2" carbide insert shell mill on finishing aluminum. Neither of us seem to be able to find a CAT30 holder with a 3/4" pilot diameter.

Does anyone know of a company selling one? I checked Lyndex-Nikken, Teknics, and Parlec. No luck.

If you cant find one you can get an AB tool one and cut the shank. it goes in a solid endmill holder Shear-Hogs (Shank Style) - AB Tools Inc

Nice idea, but those cutters are noisy and have expensive inserts. Moreover, the reason he needs the holder is because he's got a brand new expensive cutter & a near lifetime supply of inserts sitting there.

I also had found them in BT30, but I'm pretty certain that a Robodrill T21 takes CAT30.

All the Robodrills that I own take BT30.
Your search may be simpler than you thought.
I am not aware of any Cat30 tool holders or spindles.
I could be wrong, I have lead a sheltered life.

That's always been my understanding, too. The CAT designation only applies to 40 and 50 taper toolholders. The 30s are either BT 30 or NMTB 30. I think you'll find that any 30 taper holder will work...

THAT makes sense! And it's probably why we can't find a holder.

I will go to his shop and look. I know the difference between BT and CAT flanges just from looking at them from 20 feet away.

An NMTB30 cannot be used in a Robodril, no way. It has no way to clamp the tool nor hold in the turret.

I have a CAT30 holder, had to modify it to fit a BT30 spindle by making the drive dog slots symmetrical. That said, I've never seen a CAT30 Robodrill.
