Hey Y'all,

I need to do some threadmilling (ID and OD - mating parts) and I'm having trouble finding a tool.

I'd like a 40 pitch threadmill (multi thread) with at least .300 length of cut.
Did a quick check of Maritool, lakeshore carbide, and MSC.
Some have #4 (and #6) available but all with too short a LOC. Plus #4 or 6 makes for a tiny little tool...

It's only for 4 parts total, so I don't want to spend $$ for custom stuff.

Any other places I should check?

I know I can use a single point tool - but I'm hoping to avoid that if possible... It's starting to look inevitable...

Thanks

ciao

Hey buddy,
Try Scientific Carbide. Part # TM250-40. staggered tooth solid carbide.
3/8 dia X 40 pitch X 5/8 length of cut. Sorry I do not sell this brand. If you have a hard time getting it let me know, then I can pull some strings.

You could also go with an indexable...like a Kennametal, but they are a straight flute insert, and only one insert/flute. Cost wise, the solid is probably as cheap for the whole tool as the inserts are from Kenna, but it's a another option.
