Hello There,

I do a lot of machining bronze bushings in all different sizes and a decent amount of times we will get ones that will need a groove. That groove will be either a figure 8, loop groove, or even a spiral groove. What I would love some opinions on was what would be the best way to do a internal groove either it be on a manual groove machine, CNC Lathe with a grooving insert, or a CNC lathe with live tooling. Please let me know your ideas and suggestions im trying to figure what would be the fastest and most efficient way to do these. Thank you have a great day

Live tooling for an internal groove, probably not. Just a boring bar with a grooving tool. Round, square, triangular, take your pick. If it is a deep spiral groove, just use a threading cycle on your manual machine. With a CNC, the sky is pretty much the limit.
