Heinz, My machine is a 1989 year model. I was told it was the transition period from the tapemate to the fanuc robodrill. Its all original with the OM control, and has the 7-1/2hp spindle motor. I remember the older pratt & whitney tape mates as to were the spindle and turret tool charger were all as one. This machine as I was told was Pratt's second and last design before selling the machine and patent to Fanuc. I'm currently seaching flea-bay for a OM manual, but would love to find the original Pratt operators manual. I will try and post a pic of the machine. Unfortunetly my new little shop only has a 82" garage door. So that, with cost economics played the biggest roles in my purchase. I was torn between a stout CNC knee mill, like a 40-taper Tree or Hurco, but HATED the idea of no tool changer and throwing coolant everywhere with no enclosure. I did find an old Matsuura MC-500 BT-35 machine in my price range, would of had the ballz I needed and I was actually torn between that and this machine I bought. I just hated the Yasnac 2000 with the single line display on it. Plus it was a 1979 model... I know with my door height problem, and a 5k budget, pickens were fairly slim. My work is condensed of 50% secondaries from my screw machines, light milling, drilling & tapping and 50% full machining. Full machining being smaller custom alumn. billet componets for one customer, and then some small A-2 dies for another. 1/2 thick x 4x6 in length. Now I know this is not a full blown VMC, but even with 1/2-3/4 carbide cutters I figure I could go around the part at .025 depth of cut if I had to. The dies come in smaller qtys, usually about 30 at a time. I know it will take alot longer than prevoiusly running them on my Matsuura MC-750 but hell, I work from behind my house now, I can work all day and night now! Yippie...
