Re: N360 Stainless advice...

I have a 1.75 Dia. bar that I am drilling a 3/16 hole just off each end (for cotter pin), then drill and thread a 1" UNC in the center. Just looking at the 3/16 thru hole, I am not able to machine it yet. Taking it to the manual to get a feel for it, I can get about a hole and a half with a cobalt drill if absolutely no chips fall in the hole (chip falls in the hole=DONE).
Manually, I can't seem to get more than 250rpm out of it, I have to drive it hard, and retract fast to sling that chip.
CNC- I was last at 350rpm, and .4ipm.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Carbide Drill, TSC, 25-50 SFM, minimize pecking, don't rapid down on chips.

IT's Nickel Beryllium Martensitic Stainless. It's a bitch. The chips are easily heat hardened, so you have to so something about that, besides just wish.

Thanks litlerob1. Yes, you are exactly right. I am finding on the manual that I have to watch the chips coming out of the hole, I figured it was due to the chip work hardening.
