Running Centre~Tailstock Pressure
Hi All,
Our CNC Lathe tailstock pressure is too high for small shaft work. Even with the pressure wound down.
So, are there any running centre's on the market where you can manually adjust (light spring pressure and then lock up???) for fiddly work?
Cheers,
Terry

depends on how fussy is fussy. I commonly do work in the 3/4 inch x 12 inch range in 4140 prehard out of the headstock on a center.... my Cincinnati 12U x 60 tailstock psi is about 80 I think...chatter gets insane trying to go a full 24 inches.

Use a "linear compensating center" which is a fancy way of saying spring loaded center.
