tailstock question

Hello guys

My machine is giving me a message tailstock in intermediate position and I can not run the program while this is up or even move the tailstock..

Any suggestions??
I already tried power cycling the machine.

Machine emco e 45 fanuc control

Quill or fixed tailstock?

If it's a quill it's probably not fully retracted, or something is causing it to think that.

sorry about that its the quill.. but on the control it says tailstock in intermediate position. its a manual tailstock auto quill.

I am guessing it is that as well..how would I get it back to position?

Quill is frozen (wont move). Any ideas on how to unfreeze it. Tried tapping it a bit with a rubber mallet but no luck so far.

There may be a switch that is not being made. If there is an access panel on the body you may be able to move a dog or something to make the switch.
Or maybe you can retract the quill with an M code in MDI.

We had a similar problem with ours, is there a tailstock hydraulic pressure control somewhere? If its turned really low it may not be able to retract it. Happened to ours until we increased the pressure.
