Hi guys,
I'm looking for some tips to improve the surface finish on a surface like this, in 6061 Al (the top surface is roughly 1/2" x 1"):
It's a shallow concave, so I cannot do it with a bull nose. Ball makes the right geometry, but most of the finish cutting is happening right at the tip of the cutter where the SFM is very low, so the surface comes out frosty instead of crisp, and the stepover is easy to see despite a very small scallop height.
No, I don't have a 4th axis .
Thanks, and regards.
Mike
