Best methods for taking machine video

I've looked at a lot of different videos of CNC machines cutting, and the
quality varies drastically. I've tried taking a bit myself with my little Sony
camcorder through the windows, with less than spectacular results.

I'm thinking of getting a small waterproof video camera and mounting it
inside our Mori Duraturn so students and visitors can get a better view
of it working than peering through the little windows. Would a couple
of small air jets help keep coolant from smearing the lens? Anybody else
ever tried a camera inside a lathe or mill enclosure?

Man Tsugami is some hardcore machine porn.:D

I think air might work but I would figure it out using something besides my new camera.;)

Lighting makes a big difference.

Have not myself, but have seen many at shows. They use the cheap little security cams located strategically to give you monitor view of their tooling at work. Looks pretty good and is pretty simple to do. I suppose you can then save to a file and post here to help keep us entertained. Ha-Ha

Hey Tim,

You should see the smiles when you do another reply.:D

Edit.

What the heck?
I thought I was replying to the Kurt vise thread.

Oh well it is for TT anyway.

Holly Joey Butafuco,
I saw this stuff when they first put the new board up but then it all diapeared. Being basicaly a lazy person I just ask before looking around :D.
Is there a CAD_CAM feature you can turn on as well??:p This is going to be fun now.
Oh and one more thing, the recent video posted on the Sharp machine with the cool part was pretty good. But I have to admit after watching it for a couple of minutes I started to wonder why the heck am I watching this? I hit cycle start and go in the office and set a timer with a buzzer. I think watching most cnc is boring as heck. Once and awile it is cool like the 5 axis stuff. But I understand. Keep em coming. Hey that Sharp looks like a cool little machine.
Hey ARB, HAPPY NEW YEAR :)
