I'm interested in picking up a smaller CNC lathe to replace an old manual lathe. My budget is max $20K. Some of the features I'm looking for:
- 13" or greater swing
- 36" bed length
- tailstock (manual is ok)
- gang or turret tooled
Most parts I run will be less 4" OD or less, but occasionally run 24" in length. Material can range from stainless to delrin.
I already have CAM software in place as I use it for milling right now, and it can accommodate turning.
I'm not running high production numbers, 10 at most often times, so speed is not a huge concern. The reason for the cnc is there is a lot of profiling that takes forever on the manual. Space is a concern however, I can't accommodate anything longer than 9ft at most. Height would also have to be 8ft or less as I don't have a large overhead door in my shop. Width really isn't an issue.
One last requirement is I'd prefer something without ancient controls. I'm not really interested in doing a huge retrofit.
Thanks all.
