Hi Guys, I am hopping someone can help, I drive an older Bridgeport VMC600, and occasionally the tool does not pull up fully into the taper, but will either pull up by itself with a bang or when the tool comes in contact with the job (not good!) :-( . It seems to be holding on the draw bar "teeth". The Drum/carosel as it revolves does wobble a little but not a huge amount.
Any Ideas???

Will it pull up fully if you are manually loading tools by hand?
Have you checked if the draw bar is retracting back up fully?
You might have some broken disc springs down the spindle drawbar assembly.

Sounds like the drawbar is fubar. I Find the mentality of many shops is to run it until it won't. Sounds like you are already doing that. I would have stopped at the first instance and realized something was broke.

On a guess here, the spring washers in the drawbar are broke and it won't cycle up and down correctly.

Now it could also be that rotation at tool change is not right, in which the tool is stuck on the drive ear, then pops into position. That will also cause damage.

I think I would figure it out quick, or price a new spindle while you are in there.
