CNC Surface Grinder Wheel Adapter Rust Issues

Hello,

I have a Mitsui 818 PCNC surface grinder with adjustable weight wheel adapters (also manufactured by Mitsui). All grinding is done with coolant (Astrogrind A), which is directed right at the wheel. Last week, I took off a wheel for rebalancing and noticed that rust had formed on the lapped interior of the adapter. I'm assuming that the coolant somehow got between the wheel and the adapter, leading to the corrosion. Is there any way for me to prevent the rust from forming? Furthermore, can I still use the adapter or should I send it in for refinishing?

Thank You!

Should not hurt at all.. Good to have coolant less likely to cause rust for the sake of the rest of the machine.

Perhaps it was cause by the way the mount was cleaned and not the coolant's fault all.

A light rub of spindle oil (3in1 oil ok) and a dry wipe might avoid the next time.

But I am not knowledgeable about that coolant perhaps some PMers might comment.
