Yang - Hardinge VMC's - spindle compability

Greeting,

I have a Yang SMV 1000 who's spindle went out unexpectedly last week it's out for rebuild and it looks like lead time is going to be extensive. I'm told Hardinge VMC 1000's are rebadged Yang's - what are the chances the spindle cartridges are interchangeable?

Hardinge vmc 1000 was a Yang, at least for a while. It would depend on year. I have one and its a decent machine. Still runs every time I ask it to. They look pretty damn similar. The Hardinge has an 8k RPM spindle.

What is excessive lead time and where did you send the spindle?

I also have a yang. They are indeed generic hardinge of the era. I rebuilt mine as there is a thread on here about that. If you can find one that looks just alike they should be good. My mill also has 8k spindle.
