I ran across this on Ebay, it has the moveable quill. Wish it was closer I would be interested.

Great Cow in the Morning! Man, that's really near the top on my "lust list".
I think that quill feed gives it a BS designation; it would be something like a VHF-3BS, the newer model and the first one I've ever seen on the hoof. A pretty uncommon beastie in the states I think; all I've seen up to now have been the VHF-3. HGR had a VHF-3 I pined over, gone now I think. Thanks for showing that listing, gotta put that in my lust list archive.

And $400 is not low enough price for you Dirt ??

BossDon, now right hip prices run me approx $15K. Not the cost of high end machine even. Then there's installation and maintenance.
For the Abene, if they were $10 including shipping, all I could do would be gimp about and shout "Damn that's cheap"
I'm up against it, the hip has gotta be fixed. Machine lust is one thing, reality is another. My priority is firmly set, and deficit spending is not an option.
It ain't the only one ever made, won't be the last one ever sold, but it does excite me (And I lust)
Probably go 1500-2100 range, but you can never account for feeding frenzy.

If you had the Abene you could mill your own hip joint replacment !
I hear ya.....good luck on the hip that is to come !

Hear Ye, Hear Ye,
Be it known to all,
I gotta 1951 Willys jeep, L head, USMC with stencils, axe, shovel, chain. Needs fuel pump. Extra military transmission (mil version got zerk fittings) in parts, believed to be complete. The extra tranny is in parts, as recieved. Clean title and pics available.
Trade with clean signed title for the afore mentioned Abene Mill delivered, "even steven", forklift available to unload, otherwise I'll take it apart and piss ant it off the truck myself if need be.
(Ain't my forklift and I try to work smarter not harder. I got too )

Oh that hurts!
Rub it in, I got salt if you need some

Hmmmm...thing went higher than I expected considering it may have some serious problems, plus local pickup only, have to pay rigger to load, etc .
-
Yeah Don, way higher considering the potential problems. $3650 though; I missed it by a mile. Same person made 10 bids in the last 20 mins of the auction, "feeling" for the top bid looks like.
I've tracked three that sold, the highest was $2200 out of Canada, also with quill feed, no stated problems. Go figure.
The VHF3 at HGR was priced $1700 on their web site, I asked some questions about it and they came back with $1300 price, $690 shipping. It was gone shortly after that. That was a little interesting in that I didn't ask about price, just some questions about the table.
They seem undervalued to me for some reason, maybe the unconventional appearance or maybe the INT 40 taper? I dunno. Well, I can't say they're undervalued now, in retrospect.
As an aside, for the hip replacement, maybe a heavy duty U joint and external zerk fitting?
