Antique B&S mill with Euro-style Y-axis

I just saw this over on the Antique Machinery and History forum: a Brown & Sharpe "Lipe" mill with the Y-axis like a Euro-style mill, i.e., the headstock moves in and out on top of the column, rather than the saddle moving in & out on top of the knee. It still has a knee such that the table dovetail is in a horizontal plane instead of a vertical plane like a Euro-style mill.

I dont know if the sliding head is a European feature as many American manufactured mills had this type of head.
What is interesting is the box section design of the table, I cant recall ever having seen this on any other miller.

More interesting for the variable speed drive and table design than the Y axis aspects. Never seen a B&S like that even in old brochures. Sean should probably move this to the Antique Forum so those guys can salivate over it.
