CHAMPAONE CHAMPAINE
Party with me.

I am that happy I must tell somebody:

The NSV is now totally rebuild.

I must say something my former L1 where that good as I thought. We made some more measurement and we measured a really HIGH ripple current of 0,5V

So I called FPS and asked for a new L1 but as I knew the didn't have them and they said that they also will not support the old NSV 56 any more. So I asked for a not working NSV and they send me one.

It was a little bit burned

But we were really amazed that only the potent and the soldering of the L1 were burned so the problem was not the L1 it was the way how they soldered it in. It must have been unclean there ore they used a wrong flux.

So The L1 was still working and we did some measurement with it and found out that it had a much higher inductance as we thought as it had to have so I made a new one.

And now there is silence only L2 is making some noise.
The ripple current is at a really low level.

And now I hope the nightmare is at an end and I can work without problems the next weeks. Okay I also have a new problem but it's just a broken wire at the control console.
Easy to fix.

Hope you are making notes on all this! Nice work. I am hoping for all FP-NC owners to have a trouble free year
Cheers Ross

YES! Always Ross! Because it won’t be the last NSV on my table.

This weekend I will start a photo series how to repair burned boards with holes

Good job STephan... I congratulate you! For a mechanical guy, you are certainly getting into electrical!

I look forward to your essay. My repairs are much less dramatic. I just fixed (I hope) an amp board for Ross, but not the main board (sorry, I do not know all of the numbers/ids for the Bosch setup). My repair was pathetically simple compared to yours...

One question... How were you making your measurements and doing your tests. I assume you had the board in your chassis with the system powered up and were using your scope. But could you reach the parts? Did you make an extender card?

Again, good job!

Hello Alan,

I did my measurements in the chassis contacted with such: How do you call them????

With them I cut measure under normal stress.

But if such things will happen more often (and I think they will and all this guys will bring me there broken boards) I will build up a test control.

I wish all Deckel fans and fanatics a MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Those are 'test clips'. Painful to use if you want to probe many places... I would consider making/buying an extender card. That way you can get the board out where you can access the front and back easily... Very useful things.

If the inductor is a source of frequent problems, it might be worth it to get a batch built. I wouldn't mind splitting this with you if the price is reasonable. There are only so many dead boards that can be wiggled from Herr Singer!

Again, congratulations on your repair. I hope you have a Merry Christmas too while you are home cutting metal (because... what else would you be doing on Christmas!)

Alan
