One of the European members here posted years back about refurbishing the aluminium slat covers a la - Gliederschurz fur FP4NC oder FP4MK, Deckel Frasmaschine | eBay using the horizontal spindle and a ground cutter...of course can't find it now!
Material appears to be .5mm thick, I thought this would be simple, but buying something to suit has been difficult. Can buy insertion neoprene in .4 and .8 locally, but have to buy several lifetimes worth and several hundred dollars to boot, probably need something at best, 200x300. There does appear to be a nitrile diaphragm rubber in the right thickness, that isn't available here.
Have found a vice, light hammer and a stanley blade makes quick work of the job.
