Default Is this Brush DC motor rebuildable? Commutator problem on Gildemeister

Hi guys... I got around to pulling a motor apart last night and found the source of a problem with a Z axis, DC motor (Siemens) that wouldn't spin all the way around..

It looks like one of the copper commutators broke off on one end and is sticking out.. it whacked the brushes and it's pretty dirty inside... amazingling enough most everything else "looks" good to my untrained eye.

I was wondering if rebuilding the commutator section on a BDC was a common process that most motor rebuilders could perform, or what other problems could I be facing with such an occurance?

Will post pics in a bit....

Thanks in advance guys.

It is fairly common for motor rebuilders to replace a com, if this is a large (expensive) motor it would probably pay to go this route.

Default Finally

Believe it or not, it's taken me this long, but I got the lathe off the trailer this past weekend.. in the rain... and set in place... I ended up getting that motor off ebay but it wasn't quite right...

I'll get the other motor rebuilt here and will just keep cleaning it up until then. It looks good sitting where it is..

Default You've got it Nordic !!

Perm. Magn. Motor: 1 HU3058-0AC01-Z
IEC 56 Nr.E 5J87 7608 07 006
V 1/1
1/min=2000
A= 9.5
kW=1.33
S3-40%
Mo-6.0Nm
Lo=8.8A
VDE 0530
L.Cl.F 100k
Err./excit V A -->,|--- Lo mh
IP54 IMB5
Mo max=6.5Nm Lo max=9.9A
I.CI.F130k
Z=G43

On a seperate plate there is stamped:
impulsgeber ROD 320 Imp 2500/u

Any help in identifying potential repair components would be great!! Alternately, it seems like many of the Siemens motors with the same basic model number have different stats on the plate. If I knew which motors would be interchangeable that might open up some options for me. It is the Z axis motor. Of course, if I can find spares for the X and live tool motors, I'd do that too.
