Like your topic title, sort of meaningless without knowing the reserve...could be $120,000 for all we know.

I was in that shop before that machine went on ebay.

My customer also has DMG 50V that I was working on.

Unfortunately the owner before this one was cutting cast iron on the machine. It was never cleaned after it was removed from service!!! Machine was in weeks of cleaning before it could be put into service.

They were primarily selling this Maho because
of lack of support by DMG!!

My customer on the west coast gave it serious consideration since has 3 other big Maho's.

It was sold to maschine dealer on the west coast and he is sitting on it until the economy recovers!!

Look for this maschine to surface again for sale!!

Regards
DD

It is kind of a shame that support wouldnt be better but at the same time I can see why. DMG seems to change machine designs more often than some southern gentlemen change undershirts...it wouldnt be possible for a company to keep so many parts on the shelf for very many years. Just financially speaking a company would go broke trying to offer support and parts for a machine like that one. Or the customer wouldnt want to pay what those parts cost to make, so as a vendor there you are again trying to offer service that wont meet the customers hopes.

If DMG kept their machines more consistent from year to year like Haas then parts and support would be easier and cheaper and therefore more affordable. Of course, why do we need more than one Haas? And all those variants make for very cool Journal photos...

I think DD is right, we will see this for sale again, and again and again...

Yes it did....which is exactly why NOT to use such idiotic meaningless titles...so that folks aren't tempted to click on a title for absolutely nothing just to find out what it's about. If the goal was to just get high "click thru rates" on posts then I suppose every title should be a different icon of a naked woman rather than a description of what is contained within ?

Actually I had no goal with the title it was just the first thing I thought of and I couldn't give a crap less if anyone looks at my posts. But it does seem to me that the DMG Maho section could use more action because there is like one post a month ,so maybe that's why I saw no harm in an "idiotic" title, after all it's just a post on a forum not a bill going through congress. You are right though I do get annoyed when I click on something with an intriuging title and it turns out to be crap.

Ha, I'm glad I clicked because I'm the guy that bought the MH1200 listed on eBay, and "whoa baby" seems about right - for me at least.

deckeldoctor, which machine are you referring to in your comments about cutting cast iron and not cleaning the machine, the DMG 50V? I assume the part about poor support for old machines applies to any older Deckel Maho machine.

Sounds like you saw the 1200 I bought. I am on the West coast (SF Bay Area), but I'm not a dealer. Just someone who was looking to buy a 5-axis machine, and hopefully got the right machine for my needs. We'll see what kind of nightmare it is getting it set up and running. I'm sure I'll be posting some topics here just like markp has been regarding his MH600.

Thanks for chiming in and letting us know about you. I look forward to hearing how it goes and I am sure for the right application it will be a tremendous machine for you. Its one of those things where you have to find just the right person who needs a machine like that one. It wouldnt work for most people and lack of factory support is one of the biggest reasons.

Good luck and please post some photos once you get it operational. Glad to see it will get put to work and not rust away in someones warehouse.

Huh thats cool while I was planing cyl. heads today I was daydreaming about your Maho and what had become of it, also I wandered what the price tag actually was and I had the urge to find out. So how much did you get it for?Promise when you get this thing goin you'l show us what it can do.Not that it is a bad thing but around here it's always my 80 somthing fp this and my fp that. For once it would be nice to see a more modern german bad ass with a head alone that could draw a smiley face in an fp before it powers up. congradulations and good luck.

Funny you should say that. CNC head porting is one of the things I plan to do with it. I'll post some results from the machine once it's going. It's gonna be a while - big learning curve. Here's some of the stuff we are already doing (Mike Norman's G-Force) and the Maho will let us take it to the next level. I'm sure I"ll be posting questions about getting it up and running too. FYI, reserve was $26K. Delivered, setup and running, it'll be a bit more than that.

Well I just checked out the website and congrats on the win, of course that was a couple of years ago and I am assuming that you are Mike? Please let us know once you get that thing running, for what you want to do it should be a nice machine and quite the bargain compared to some other machines that are available.

I really expected this machine to sit for a long time waiting for the person with the right needs to come along. Glad to see that didnt happen and good luck.

I am Mike, but the "Mike Norman's G-Force" web site isn't my site. Mike Norman is the "other Mike". There is a lot of new development we have done which unfortunately isn't on the web site yet. We have moved into making our own parts (hence buying the Maho as well as some other equipment). Once we get a chance to take a breath, hopefully Mike can update his web site again.
