I Have got a DMU 70 evo linear with an 18000RPM spindle that is now starting to overheat. The tool holders are quite hot when I take them out of the spindle after round about a 30 min run at RPM 8000,the spindle itself is also hot.

Any ideas on where to start looking for the problem if there is one at all would be helpfull.

Forgive me if you know/have checked this:

My DMU 60 has a spindle chiller which is tied to a radiator (lots like a car
radiator.)

Assuming your machine has the same, it sure sounds like the radiator fluid is low, or the fluid bad (time to flush like a car radiator?), or perhaps you have a plugup of some kind in the plumbing? Uh, there's got to be pump somewhere as well, no? Find that and see if it's healthy?
