Hi, have no idea of an edm's capabilities. Need a wire tie hole ,3 places on the flat outside of a hex. Can it start hole on that angle ?
303 ss se 11/16 hex , .090 from edge hex point to the c/l of a .060 hole. So about 1/2 inch from start to finish. I have 900
pieces. So will this work?
Thanks jim

Yes, a hole popper can do this, but with a drill jig it probably would be faster. Sounds like a hole for a cable though a fastener. Usually done by drilling.

Not likely.
The popper would spend maybe 30 secs/hole, including start, breakthrough and index.

Of course, I have not tried using a jig 'cos I got me a popper.

RJT

Mine is also 15, but I do not believe that newer ones are all that much faster.
2-3 minutes for me would be about 2" of steel or 2.5" of stainless with a 2.9 mm trode. maybe 20-30% more with a 1.5mm ( for that .06 wirehole )

I agree with fast-hole EDM as the best option as long as they aren't aerospace.
No core electrode...
Conventional drilling would difficult due to the approach angle correct?

30 seconds max per hole on fast-hole... probably more like 15 seconds if you can stand a little edge blow out on entry.
