I'm looking at picking up a Brother HS-70A for in-house tooling, fixturing and prototyping work. I know the Brother EDMs are orphans, but it seems like you can get aftermarket wear parts for the earlier ones. The HS-70A was only on the market for a few years.

Those of you who have them, where are you getting any parts you might need? I don't need it to run all day every day, but I don't want to have to make standard consumables and repair parts.

Thanks
John

Most of the consumable suppliers should have wear parts available for Brothers.
AFAIK the 70A is mostly the same as the 50A, 3100, 3600, 5200 when it comes to wearables such as flush cups, rollers, power contacts etc.

You can always call SST or Global EDM to see what they have available.

We get ours from GF Machining Solutions aka Agie-Charmilles.

We've also gotten them from Advanced CNC.

As Seymore said, anyone who carries consumables ought to have them.

It's the other parts ... like the z-axis ball lead screw assembly ... that are gonna be hard to source.

Do NOT over grease the leadscrews, especially the z-axis lead screw, when you do maintenance on it.
