first Agie cut file

Hello,
I managed get an Agie 100D and have just set it up and have it moving. It is my first edm. I'm trying to figure out the cut file. I can move the axis around the geometry but don't know the settings or codes for the pre and post geometry commands such as autothreading or powersettings. I attached a dxf and am hoping someone has the time to show me an example to get me started.
The material is 6061 Al, the cavity is 2.75in deep and I'm using .01 brass wire.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Shepard

This might work for you... not positive the 100D uses the same post as my machine, but I believe it might.

I "start" in the center of the hole, and drive straight right (3 O'clock direction) to the profile. I used left offset so went CCW around the inside of that profile. I used .008" radius on CCW corners (which should be just over the offset you'd use for .010" wire on a single pass in aluminum), and I used .002" radius on CW corners (an edge break more than anything). I also put a stop code in at .020" before the finish of the cut in case you walk away from the machine it will stop *just* before the drop falls free.

This is of course just the GEO file. All the machine settings will be in your TEC file, and the JOB file will pull it all together (once again; assuming your 100D works like my HSS).

Fire away if you have questions.

Thank you very much.
I still can't believe it is actually running. Could you advise me on the machine settings, power, flushing, etc.? I haven't tackled putting the GEO with the TEC and JOB files yet but I'm making progress :)

On the HSS machines you should be able to spit out the post for a 100D if you are programming it with the Agiesoft JP. I will have to check on my machine tonight. Is the power supply the MMD version?

Thank you very much.

When you say it's running... are you cutting a part?

Once again; I'm not certain how the control works in the 100D vs. my HSS, but I'm more than happy to help in any way if I can.

Does the 100D have a TECCUT database where you can build the TEC file?

Not cutting a part, just moving the axis around. Still trying to figure out the controls and I hadn't ordered any consumables because I thought it would take a lot longer to hook up.
I hate to admit it but I don't know what it has for a database, but I'll be looking.

The power supply is a MMD.

Shepard,

Shoot me a private message in this forum and I'll get with you via phone and walk you through some of the basics if that's of any help

100D programming

Shepard,

Congratulations on your Agie.

The tech files and programming are the same for the 100D as for the MMD. What are you using for a programming system?

What kind of work are you planning to use the machine for?

If you cut lots and lots of aluminum you are going to have to do lots and lots of maintenance. The Aluminum particles get into everything and build up and harden if not cleaned on a regular basis. Also much shorter filter life and resin life.

precisionmetal, thank you for the offer. As soon as I'm sure the machine setup is correct I'd really appreciate any walk-through you could give me. Right now I have everything connected. I haven't tried to enter a file yet. Just manipulating the remote control everthing seems to be working except I can't get the tank to fill or water from the nozzles so I'm missing some steps somewhere.
I "plan" to be cutting alot of aluminum but things always seem to change.

I have access to Mcam and that seems to produce a .geo file similar to precisionmetals. I've read peps is the way to go but I gotta see this thing actually work and make a buck or two before spending too much more money.

ok, i'm an idiot. didn't realise there was another button in the sequence. So, water seems to be working but now the screen is flickering off so I'll be trying to figure out what kind of 9 pin connector is going to the crt and replace it with an lcd.

While you're in the CNC cabinet, it's a good idea to clean the heat exchanger, and make sure all the fans are working (there should be a row of 4 across the bottom inside the door).

Heat exchanger fans

Shepard,

If any of the fans has failed in the bottom of the door, it is probably a bearing that is frozen rather than the fan burning out. The fans are not individually replaceable. If you order from Agie you will get a kit with one larger fan that replaces all 4 of the muffin fans. Don't do this if it is just a bearing. Bearings are available on line (cheap - about $3.) and it is easy to change out one or more of the bearings. These are very well made reliable fans made in Germany, you don't want to throw them out.

I seem to be lucky with the fans, they all work. The monitor works inconsistently and I haven't been able to track down the problem though.

And I still haven't covinced the threading jet to come on. So, the search continues :)

I am also new to the AGIE AC 100D and have a few questions.
1. How do I read the water conductivity? If I run it for a while, it errors out after 1/2-hour and reports water conductivity is too high. I have tested it with a handheld meter and it is about 15 uS. I would like to see what the AGIE thinks the water is before tearing into it.
2. How do I find out if it has the TECCUT software / database? It has firmware 0802, VMI: 3.3.9, MS: 0804i, CPB: 08.07, Bios 3.3.8, CNC 0802i
3. I have a copy of a bunch of .TEC files named something like "AA25CE_3.TEC" Where can I find some documentation on what each of these files are for. I understand that the first letter A means cutting steel, the 2nd A is Cobra Cut A wire, The 2-digit number 25 is the wire size but after that, I am lost.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Shepard, what you need is a tec disk. this machine doesn't have a hard drive and works off of the 2 floppies. B is usually used for the tec disk. are you able to navigate in the control? if so go to configuration and look up the software level. it will be either 08.xx or 09.xx. This is important to know to get the proper tec disk. now to answer your questions.
1. the setting for conductivity is K find it on the EROS-S page and set it to 10
2. you answered my question on sw level you will need a disk that says TECCUT on it. it will contain the tec.
3. you are spot on CE is tolerance and finish call out the _3 is 30 mm height. Do you have a manual go to chapter 4 e=.4 RA A=lowest # and best finish and size. i will copy the chart and post here when time permits.
