sinker EDMing aluminum and steel at same time?

Hi Woody:
I'd try using the steel low wear settings and give it a go.
Drop your %ON TIME settings to accommodate the details you don't want to wipe out and jack the setting back up when you've got enough of the trode buried to accommodate your power settings.
Sometimes if I've got a pokey little trode I'll drop this setting down to a few percent and it seems to help for me.
Are you running graphite trodes or copper?

On my Mits, usually Aluminum settings would have a slightly lower IP & ON Time, and slightly higher OFF Time.

These settings would work just fine in Steel, just might take a little longer.
