    Hi Kev H:
Talk to Larry Wetmore at EDM Network; he knows these machines very well.
    Telephone number is: 951 306-4017.
    He's in Southern California.
Larry has a package for converting the floppy drive to a USB drive that works well: here's a link:

Here's a link to his company website:

    Hi Marcus

Thanks for info , sounds like Larry is a great guy!

Might email him but being in the UK not keen on the idea of ripping out the pc box and sending somewhere across the pond!! ( even though having USB ports built in would be the bee knees!!)

I'm hoping i can some how get the RS 232 working as that would be easiest and cheapest i expect.

    Cheers Kev

Search for pinouts on rs-232 cables, you would be suprised to find some differences. Could be a Null Modem cable. I just got our 84 Deckel EDM communicating with a PC for transferring programs, took me 3 days of troubleshooting. Turns out the controller was locked up after messing with it. After powering down and rebooting all was good. Could be something simple as that.

    Good luck
