Have a Miller Vintage 200 mig welder ,works great except for trying to weld on the lowest "V- thickness #1" (setting 1-6). Anyone have any suggestion on why or what to look for ? thanks
I would first move the selector back and forth on the contacts.
The lowest setting probably didn't get much use and the contacts are probably dirty.
If that didn't work I would inspect the contacts for dirt/corrosion and/or loose wires.
I have a Vintage and twice I've had the same problem. Take apart the selector switch and clean the contacts. Miller makes a plastic cover you can get from a Miller dealer that covers the back of the selector switch to keep this from happening again.
My Miller MIG Machine had the selector handle loose, but still tight enough to turn the switch and feel the detents. It was holding such that the handle/pointer was indexed one detent off from the switch inside. 'Took a bit to figure that one out, but it was an easy fix.
