Got a Miller foot controller K 840 L-8118-4, plugged to a fixture.
It'll starts the fixture, when you release the petal it does not stop,
have to push the stop button on the fixture.
Have checked:
Visibly nothing broken or burned.
Ohmed out the 5 wires between controller and plug..all good
Completed test per instruction of fixture mfg...board is good.
Checked plug in on fixture for broken wire / solder joints...all good.
Replaced the rocker switch in foot petal...no change.

Don't have another foot controller to try.

We're stumped any ideas are welcome.

Be happy to.
Only dealing with two wires the white and black, when the petal is up it's the normal open position. Close the rocker switch and the fixture starts, released back to the open position fixture does not stop once closed.
ID'ed pins, black to one pin, white goes to two pins, checked at the connector while activating the switch, they we open and closes with the switch.

Checked connector pins to board, signal is getting to board.

Checked board per mfg direction, seems to check.
Separate but related, internally board test is set a timer, fixture stops when timed out.

OK, so there's a connector head on a board on the fixture, and you have two lines wired to the pedal. (And only 2, yes?)

And from what you wrote, you seem comfortable that the pedal isn't "stuck" on - when you are lifting off the current flow stops (right?)

What you are expecting is that closing the pedal issues "move while high" and opening the pedal deissues it, and the motor stops.

What you are getting is that closing the pedal issues "start" or some other latched command.

If I were you, I'd look very carefully at the fixture controller hook up options and command options. It may be that if you fix the wires to different points on the connector head, and/or set some switches or the like differently, you'll get what you want.
