I've been put in charge of setting up two presses at work. One of them will be used to perforate tubing and one of them will be used to form/punch muffler endcaps. After years of disappointing suppliers we have decided to do it ourselves. I have some general questions about presses that I am hoping you guys can enlighten me.

1. I've narrowed my choices down to Minster, Bliss, and Komatsu. I was thinking the Bliss and Minster because they are readily available and the Komatsu because of its reliability. Are these machines reliable and durable? What models should I be looking for? I am looking for 35 tons or more on the perforating machine, die set requires 11 tons at a time according to a quick calculation.

2. What type of support equipment will be needed? I spoke with someone who was in maintenence at a press and die shop and he mentioned these presses consume a lot of compressed air. Is this true and are there any other surprises that you guys can thing of like this.

Thanks,
AJ
