I doing 6" deep belt guard (6" O.D.) and was wondering how the gurus figure the correct notch dimensions for nice corner to corner with no gap.
The box has a 1" lip inward and is 6" deep. The die in the press brake has a 3/16" radius , which comes to a .25 bend deduction per bend ( did test bends and they came out perfect), so what would be the appropriate notch and how did you arrive at that dimension?
Thanks,
Derrick

Well............good question.

Most of my brake work is with .030 radius punches, and with those I slightly reduce the leg measurement for the notch size, about material thickness.

Don't know of any majic formulas.

Easiest way is to take scrap and notch it a known measurement, and bend it.

You'll figure out right quick what to change.
