I have a new (to me) Syncrowave 350. I am welding some 3/4 and 1/2 aluminum together using ceriated tugsten, helium/argon at pretty high current. The arc is so loud I have to wear ear plugs. Is this normal?

I've never used a square wave machine before so I don't know what to expect.

Thanks!!

It should be fairly loud above 250 amps. If you turn the HF down a little it will hush it up a little, and maybe set the AC balance at 2.

The balance knob has nothing to do with the sound -------------

I disagree. The balance knob will make change the sound pitch of the arc. If you have it set for max penitration it will have a sharper sound. Max cleaning will have more a hum. I have had several of the sync 350's.

And yes, the Dynasty has a wicked sound to it, But wow does it weld awsome on AC.

loud
do that same stuff 15 foot from a junk phone and p.a. system
the neighbors will call about the 3rd shift guys waking them up
