I would like to learn to weld 6061 aluminum. I understand 4043 wire or 5356 wire would be best and use Argon gas. I am "not" an experienced welder but have used MIG, TIG and some stick welding.

My welder is a Century 155GS. This is a 120V mig welder that also uses gas. The welder is seven years old and still has the original spool of wire
that is all rusty. :(

I just priced a tank of Argon gas and need to buy some aluminum welding wire. Before I run out and spend the money I have these questions.

Will this little mig welder weld 1/4" aluminum?

Will the gas pressure need to be changed?

Any pointers will be welcome.

Thanks,
Jim
