I probably am not the first to do this, but it's a useful trick when punching an existing hole to a larger size.
I had to punch a 3/8" hole out larger to 9/16" in a steel piece yesterday using the ironworker. I would take a 3/8" slug from a hole punched in something else, and placing it into the 3/8" hole I wanted to enlarge gave me a center to go by to help keep the new larger hole concentric to the old one's center.
Not "dead accurate" or anything, but ws within tolerance of what I had to do, and saved me some time.
