Fein power hacksaw

Got a link? I looked for "Fein power hacksaw" in several combinations and found zip.

Fein makes pretty good stuff on the average if a bit over priced. If it looks good to you it's probably OK.

I have a Fein power hacksaw.Made in Germany and priced accordingly,Fein website says 2346$ but can be had for 1695$ from dealers not including blades or pipe clamp or other accessories.

Fein Clamp prices from 2 dealers.

Jamestown is expensive/FEIN list price. They list the saw itself as 2346$.

Expect to fork over anyhwere from 340ish to 1300$ for a Fein saw pipe clamp at Jamestown. There are 4 styles/sizes.

At walter tool same clamps run 250ish to 990ish and saw is 1695$

Just the pipe clamp chains run 52 to 131 doallars  Sheesh.

The below simple looking saw blade guide is 280$

I got the below saw but not the pipe cutting clamp.Mine is varaible speed, the below pic is the single speed but only difference is a knob for speed control.

Built like a tank, easily the most overbuilt/heaviest saw on the market albeit a bit unweidly.
Electric Variable speed, made for metal cutting but also stated for concrete (with the appropriate blade ofcourse).
The blades I have (about 80 total in 2 sizes) are Fein metal cutting HSS.

PS Above saw also comes in Pneuamtic version. There is also a lighter duty recip saw from Fein.

Spud-

Thank you for all the details. The Fein tools I own seem to support the notion that- "... you can cuss a tool once when you buy it , or everytime you use it..." I own a few, and they work fine.

I've tried to rent the power hacksaw to test it-no luck so far. In your experience, would the stiffest blade and a decent saw set up permit you to cut to a line in 2" aluminum plate without Sawzall blade drift? The Fein saw guide is for pipe-if I get it. I understand its intended use is for pipe-my use is an interior radius of plate with diameters far too large for bandsaw.

Having a shop in Walker's Point, it is good to know there is one person left in Elm Grove who actually uses tools other than an Espresso machine.

Regards,

Cliff

I don't have much expereince with using the saw.Only ever used it once to chop a large steel office table when moving house.Bought it mostly for concrete and Automotive work.

The table was about an inch thick wood composite or something like that. Was very dense/tough.Didn't have a circular saw, and a Black & Decker jigsaw I had was useless.

I held the fein at a low angle and didn't have trouble with drift but did get some kickback.I suppose this is to be expected since all I have are metal cutting blades and a recip saw is not the tool for the job.
Didn't have any issues cutting the steel but then office table steel is very thin so not sure how your 2 inch aluminium would fare.

From my little expereince with the saw,I am not qualified to give an opinion on how its going to fare with your intended purpose. All I can say is if any recip saw can do it then this is probably the best bet.

I bought mine on Ebay and while it is practically new it didn't come with the top handle.I looked online for the handle but no luck.I figure I would just go to a hardware store and rig something up for a handle.

You mentioned that you were unable get one from Fein for testing. You can burrow/use mine and see how it works out for the job you have in mind.
I assume your job (from your post description) is too big/cumbersome to transport so I can swing by over to you with the saw.
