Hello, I ran across this thread when I was investigating the used King Miller Drill / Mill that I prurchased in June 2009 for from a gentleman up in the LA Area. It was in pretty rough shape when I acquired it but after completely disassembly, stripping all the crud/grime/gore/paint, removing all the rust and pollishing up the bright work and primer/painting the machine. So for $325 for the machine plus $40 for the heavy duty bench and a gang of elbow grease and probably a few beers; I now own what for me is a great machine for my home workshop, simple design that has a 3/4 HP Motor with a 5 speed pulley system, the R8 tooling and the hand crank to raise and lower the Motor and headstock run up and down very smoothly, the Pillar collumn is slotted and has a latch that prevents twisting. The head can rotate 45 degees in bot the x and y axis (though I keep it plumb as it's a hassle getting the allignment set).
Since there was not much information on this unit so here's what I found in my search regarding this machine.
Yep, it was made in Taiwan and after spending alot of time trying to get information on it I was able to track down the advertisements that where in the back of the Popular Science and Popular Mechanics magazines in the early 1980's.

Here's the machine all cleaned up. I'll have to build a bench for it, as the machine came to me without one. According to it's four page instruction manual, it's model number is: TFY 515. The 'TFY' represents it's manufacturer: Ta Fu Yan.
