We recently aquired a new customer, and everything they make has to have material certifications. We have a print specifying "Nylon per MIL-M-20693, COMP. A, TYPE 1, COLOR BLACK".
Ok, I've got the color figured out... can anyone suggest a supplier for this? I've tried a few Google searches, with no luck.

GE Plastics and Cadillac Plastics are both nationwide companies that can supply any material like that. GE bought out what was Commercial Plastics a few years ago, and according to my old Commercial catalog they had offices in Pittsburg and Phila. I'd imagine they still do. As a general rule, if you're buying much quantity at all, you can buy from GE or Cadillac at about half the price most people specializing in small quantities sell for.

Simple one to solve. Call GE Polymers. They can give certification or spec on anything plastic. I get an engineer in my shop once a month, just to say hello. They have a vast ratpack of specialists and I advise you not to ask too much. Yesterday I made the error of asking for 1"x48"x96"HDPE sheets with a certification and spec history. I was quoted six different grades of HDPE; all the same color, virgin material (no regrind), same size, similar tolerance, varying price, etc. They even dropped a materials engineer on my doorstep. All this for 150 sheets of one inch plastic.

Curbell is another outfit that will bend over backwards to get your buisness. They distribute many items that GE does not carry. They also know how to hustle for a buck. They are very good on small samples of oddball stuff. Each has their strong areas and Curbell is better for stuff like Renshape and UV stabilized PVC.

If you feel brave, let me know and I will have the local engineer, of each operation, give your contact to the home office. Be warned; they both will swamp you with information.

Thanks for the leads, guys.
Metl and Charlie, this is a very small order (2 pcs), so I'm looking for a supplier who won't require that we buy an 8' length for two inches. As I said, this is a new customer, they are sizing us up, and we, them. I'm sure we will be getting sizable orders in the future

First time. I'm here trying to find out what Nylon 1 M20693 is. A customer emailed me a spec sheet from 1961. It is also referred to as PI-326. I think Nylon 6/6 can be substituted but buyers are not always informed and would want a cert with Nylon 1 on it.
